Delhi Tamil Sangam, 14th September 2012

A person (probably very famous and eminent but I can’t recall his name or face right now) once said about Sahana that her “movements are as quick and graceful as that of a deer”. In fact, people always seem to marvel at how fast and quick and lithe she is. Personally, as a photographer I’m always a little overwhelmed and dazzled at her shows, not knowing when to click…what to click. I could blame my equipment (or lack thereof) for my pathetic photographs but let it be a praise of Sahana that photographs just cannot capture the magic she creates on the stage. :)

I’m just as happy as a child who got what they wanted for Christmas because now I finally have a picture of her in one of her jumps. *pats self on back* *thanks lady luck*

what is the name of your costume in this post..? i do bharatnatyam as well :) /post/14307031903/taking-inspiration-from-her-guruji-saroja

Did you mean pose rather than costume? :)

Well, the pose in this photograph is a Krishna pose…..holding his flute.
And the costume is a standard bharatanatyam costume with 16 pleats. :)

Taking inspiration from her Guruji Saroja Vaidyanathan, this is one of her harder to imitate (is that the right word?) poses.
